Superstructure

2019

An ambitious attempt to observe humans as an exotic species through scale. You, the watcher, are invited to take a bird’s eye view of a city and to see how a day unfolds there.

You know those photos that make cities look like a miniature version of themselves? Where people crossing the street look like model figures and buildings look like tiny cement cubes. Those pictures always remind me that I am in fact a tiny micro speck moving around a planet.

Superstructure is an ambitious attempt to observe humans as an exotic species through scale. You, the watcher, are invited to take a bird’s eye view of a city and to see how a day unfolds there.

This observation game, using miniature models and figures, will look at how we dance in a busy room until sunrise, build tall buildings in tight spaces, play instruments on the street for strangers and work for money to pay the person who owns our bedroom.

Expect a blend of theatre and visual art, some heartfelt stories and a dinosaur.

Please note that this production is a work in progress.
